It’s the holidays and the time for giving. What’s a better gift than the gift of life? That’s why Globe University’s Medical Assisting department hosted the Blood Bank’s Blood Mobile.
Globe faculty, staff, and students participated in the morning-long blood drive, including student, Liz Cassidy. Cassidy has been giving blood for several years.
“I have the second rarest blood type,” said Cassidy. “After I found that out, I started giving blood as much as possible.”
Others said giving blood is a family tradition.
“My grandpa told me to do what I can to help out the military,” said student Adam Brown. “Since I wasn’t in the military, I did my part and donated. Plus, I know people who needed blood transfusions, and I’ve helped them, too.”
“Thanks for everybody for donating,” said Stephanie Schwans with the Sioux Falls Blood Mobile. “Today we gathered 14 units. For every unit, it helps three people.”
A special thanks to hot 104.7 DJ “Johnny V” for broadcasting live and donating blood. Click here to see all the pictures from the event.
