PLUS-Representatives from each state attended the 55th Annual AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) conference in Indianapolis. Five from South Dakota attended, and two of the three were from right here at Globe University-Sioux Falls–our MA program chair, Amy Zobel and instructor Jo Penning. Amy and Jo got to vote on things like by-laws and learned about changes in the field.

“To be a medical assistant, you need continuing education,” said Amy Zobel.  “Jo and I learned about benefit,s and how medical records are changing to electronic- how it impacts states.”

Amy also said a lawyer answered any of their questions.

“It’s good… you get to talk to a lot of educators all over,” said Amy “It’s part networking and part what works and doesn’t work.”
