Globe University-Sioux Falls is proud to announce its Student of the Quarter for Summer 2015, Johana Gebregiorgis from the Medical Assistant program. Johana has earned the honor of our first Student of the Quarter for the 2015 year, and a reserved parking space at the front of the building.
Johana is in her fourth quarter with Globe. During her time in the Medical Assistant program, Johana has participated in several applied learning projects and volunteer opportunities. She is enthusiastic about learning and helping out her fellow classmates.
Johana had this to say about herself and her time at Globe:
“I am the youngest of four children and was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. My parents migrated here from Eritrea in 1990. I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends, playing basketball, listening to music, and watching movies.
As a child, I always wanted to be in the medical field and become a family practice physician. I chose Globe because I love to help people, and it was close to my family.
My favorite applied learning project that I participated in while at Globe was The Big Squeeze event. It was fun getting to do blood pressures on all age groups. It also gave more confidence in taking blood pressures from those I don’t know well. I learned how to perform blood pressure checks when I was in high school, but it’s been so long since I did it! I attended The Big Squeeze with another Medical Assistant student Rebbeca Pacheco. The event was held at a Skyforce game, and after we completed the blood pressure checks we were able to watch the second half of the game!”
Congratulations to Johana on this honor! Enjoy your reserved parking space this quarter!
