Meet Our Masage Therapy Program Chair!

Angela Geraets has always been a busy lady, and being a Massage Therapist is her passion. Ms. Geraets has always been interested in being in the health care field, but didn’t want to “… poke and prod people and then just leave. Massage therapy, she feels, is “more nurturing.”
To help fulfill her dream, Angela earned an Associate’s Degree as well as a Diploma in Massage Therapy, and she has certificates of expertise in Craniosacral, Lymphatic Drainage, Thai, Hot Stone, and Myofascial modalities. In addition, Ms. Geraets earned an Associates as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and is currently working on an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.
She has been in practice for 13 years as a Massage Therapist. In addition to being Massage Therapy Program Chair here since 2008, Ms. Geraets worked in a variety of clinical settings, has owned her own business, worked at a Chiropractic clinic for 6 years, and has a family with young children!
Ms. Geraets takes her responsibilities as Massage Therapy Program Chair very seriously. She feels that it is her responsibility to make sure that the Massage Therapy students get in and out of their programs with “… the best education possible … being provided with the best instructors possible … “ And she says that it all pays off when she “ … sees them walk across the stage with big smiles ..” at their graduation.
Her advice to students, whatever program that they are in, is to “…take your time at Globe seriously … you’re here for a reason!” Also, she would urge students to network with their fellow students and get involved “… with the life of the campus … don’t just sit there like a lump … your fellow students can help you study, and help with the emotional strain you’ll encounter from time to time.”
Ms. Ashley Fluth, a massage therapy student speaks for all the massage therapy students and faculty that I have visited with when she says that she really appreciates having someone with Angela’s “background, experience and expertise” right here on campus!
Something not everyone knows about Ms. Geraets is her passionate interest in anything and everything that has to do with sports. Spare time for her is spent watching or participating in sports, and being a “hockey mom” for her son’s team. By the way, ask her about her collection of several hundred hockey pucks sometime!
If you see her in the halls or the student lounge, and haven’t yet had the opportunity to meet her, go up and introduce yourself. Even though she is a “red”, she does smile, she’s very easy to get along with, and is, as she says, “a complete push-over when it comes to her field,” and a welcome and valued part of our Globe University – Sioux Falls Campus family.
