Students in the Driver’s Seat at Globe University-Sioux Falls

A simple mission statement, “We will demonstrate We Care by preparing career-focused, community-minded graduates for the global workforce” says a lot about the Globe University-Sioux Falls campus.  As a campus of 200 students and 50 staff and faculty with a flair for hands-on education, we bring something different to education in the Sioux Falls community.

Globe UniversitySioux Falls is home to five private career colleges (Globe University-Sioux Falls, Colorado Technical University, National American University, Black Hills Beauty College and Stewart School), two community colleges (Killian and Southeast Technical Institute), three private traditional colleges (University of Sioux Falls, Sioux Falls Seminary and Augustana College) and one collaboration of colleges and universities (University Center). That is a lot of education in one mid-sized community. Why would one choose Globe University-Sioux Falls?

What our students say:

“Small class sizes and I don’t feel like a number. My faculty know who I am.”  ~Veterinary Technology student

“Hands-on experience—I am able to apply what I am learning that very same day.”  ~Massage Therapy student

“I feel like a part of the Globe family. The staff and faculty here support my education. I have been to three different colleges here in Sioux Falls and I finally found my home!”  ~Sales and Marketing student

What our faculty say:

“I am able to work individually with my students to help them excel academically.”  ~General Education faculty member

“I see students come in unsure of themselves and then I see them walking across that graduation stage with confidence and a smile for what they have achieved.”  ~Medical Assistant faculty member

“My job is to teach students skills they will use each day and appropriate behavior in a professional environment. Globe University supports me in that and our students are accountable.”  ~Business faculty member

What our staff say:

“As a family owned private university, we are able to make changes to the curriculum and our campus based off the needs of our students and our individual campus.  Our students are the largest factor to consider in any decision we make and I wouldn’t want to work anywhere where students were not put first.” ~Melanie Schopp, Campus Director

“Relationships we build with our students, both inside and outside the classroom, are so important. We are able to understand our students better to identify their strengths and areas for development.  Once we know our students and what they desire, we can then help connect them with the right employers for them.” ~Ann Kolbrek, Director of Career Services

“The reason I love what I do, is because when I was a student, I was given so many tools from the staff and faculty that I had, that I want to be that support for our students and show them that they can be successful and obtain their educational goals.” ~Elizabeth Augustine, Academic Coordinator and graduate

Globe University-Sioux Falls is different!  We are proud of who we are and what we bring to our student body and community.  Our campus chose to be accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) as it allows us to be who we are and support our students to success.  The retention and career placement of our students is part of our accreditation as we have a job to do for our students. The Sioux Falls campus has excelled in career placement by placing 80 percent of our students in jobs in their field. We know our students by name (and typically their kids, too), we expect our faculty to be industry professionals and dynamic in the classroom, and we hold our students to high expectations of professionalism, academic success and integrity all to make us who we are.
