In an effort to recognize our outstanding students, Globe University-Sioux Falls has nominated Carrie Palmlund, massage therapy student, as the November student of the month. Staff and faculty were asked to make recommendations based on students who demonstrate a positive attitude in the classroom and around campus, as well as any hardworking students who deserve recognition.
Carrie is a first quarter student with Globe University and her excitement about the program and learning are always palpable. She has gone above and beyond this quarter and is always willing to put the extra effort into her classes.
Carrie’s efforts to excel in her classes has not gone unnoticed. Instructor Frank O’Neil was the first to nominate Carrie for student of the month.
“Carrie Palmlund would be my nominee hands down,” O’Neil said. “She has been working very hard in the two courses she is taking with me. She has also been coming to tutoring sessions with me on Saturdays. What makes her even more impressive to me is that she had never sent an email prior to this quarter. She is excelling with a steep learning curve and I am very impressed with her as a student.”
Here is what Carrie has to say about her experience with Globe University so far:
I am 40 years old and I am originally from Desmet, South Dakota. I decided to come to Globe University to fulfill a lifelong goal of becoming a massage therapist. I knew Globe was the right choice for me from the moment I walked through the doors. The positive, friendly, hopeful atmosphere helped me realize that was the place to be! The willingness and encouragement given from the staff, faculty and other students has been a pleasant and positive experience. Everyone is always willing to answer questions and help in any way they can.
Besides being a full time massage therapy student, I am also a mother and have two part time jobs. My daughter is a beautiful 16-year-old junior in high school. Some of my interests and hobbies include music, concerts, traveling, being with family and friends, and being outdoors.
My advice to incoming students is for them to choose Globe to better themselves. Don’t ever give up! Your goals and dreams can be met. With a lot of effort and hard work, you can accomplish your goals because it’s never too late!
Globe University wants to congratulate Carrie on being student of the month. We are excited to see what the future holds for Carrie and hope she continues to be excited about her education!
