For the Veterinary Technology students at our Minnesota School of Business – Plymouth campus, hosting the “Junior Vet Camp” as a Community Education event is becoming a quarterly ritual. The photos are from the event held recently in November.
First the MSB Vet Tech students give a presentation on dog handling and safety. Then they assist the kids in approaching and greeting live dogs, volunteered by a local dog training club. With live animals to break the ice the kids suddenly can’t get enough of all the additional information the Vet Tech students provide. Our students, meanwhile, find that talking about animal health subjects is fun! While the youngsters discover skeletons and microscopes our VT students discover qualities within themselves, especially in the areas of confidence and professionalism.
Vet Tech Program Chair Mary Oberson, CVT, and Resident Veterinarian, Dr. Kari Johnson, provide the spark behind this event. They are two terrific examples of our dedicated VT faculty.
I can’t wait for the first “Junior Vet Camp” attendee to enroll in the VT program at Plymouth in a few years!!”
