Celebrate Your Freedom to Read during Banned Books Week October 3-7th.

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, James and the Giant Peach, Catcher in the Rye–just a few familiar titles that were once banned books!  Join GU-Wausau’s library in celebrating Banned Books Week and our freedom to read.  Throughout the week learn the books, the history, and the movement of freedom to read!  Check out the books on display in the library- each one has been banned at sometime somewhere.   For what reasons  have books been banned?  Many, but often in the interest of “protecting children.” Other reasons include sexuality, gender issues, racial issues, and political or religious concerns.  Curious? Check out the list of now classics that were once banned!   Celebrate and read a banned book today! And, don’t forget to join the Banned Books Library Party all week long!

All Week: crosswords, games, books, prizes.
