Campuses Compete to Raise Money for Breast Cancer Walk

Adding Friendly Competition Leads to Outstanding Results

Group Photo Globe University – Woodbury campus and Minnesota School of Business – Richfield campus joined forces to raise money for the 2011 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Lake Nokomis on Saturday, October 15. The campuses decided to have some fun raising the money by striking up a competition to see which campus could raise the most money. As the stakes grew so did the competition between the two campuses. It was decided that the loosing campus bought the treats for the morning of the walk and the campus director would get a pink pie in the face thrown by the winning campus director.

Who is the winning campus you ask? Drum roll please…winner is the Richfield campus! The Richfield campus raised a total of $1,396. Together the campuses raised $2,151.06 toward the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

“We are all winners for raising the amount we did,” said Lisa Palermo, Globe University – Woodbury Campus Director. “Every dollar we raised and every step we took helps save lives. A pink pie in the face is worth every cent as long as it’s going to a great cause such as Making Strides.”

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk not only united the Woodbury and Richfield campuses but it helped communities come together to celebrate people who have battled breast cancer, educate people about ways to reduce their risk, and empower communities to join the fight.

“Fundraising for such a great cause has been such a rewarding endeavor for our campus, and for our whole team,” said Stacy Severson, Minnesota School of Business – Richfield Campus Director. “We are already looking forward to getting involved again next year!”

On behalf of the Woodbury and Richfield campuses, thank you for everyone that supported our fundraising efforts. It’s inspiring to see how we can come together as campuses to show the community how “we care.”

Stay tuned for the date of the pink pie in the face.
