If you are looking for a furry new member of the family, start by checking out adopting and looking to your local shelters. There are so many sweet dogs and cats that would love nothing more than to be the newest member of your family!

In honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, recent Globe University graduate and employee Tiffany Maya did just that.

“When I met this sweet little girl I knew I had to give her a forever home,” said Tiffany, who adopted Angel. She plans to rename the boxer-pitbull mix Nala.

Tiffany currently works as an administrative assistant at the Globe University-Woodbury campus. She also recently earned her massage diploma in March and her associate degree in September and works at Massage Envy.

“Working on campus with a vet tech department is an amazing way to meet so many wonderful animals, most of which are in need of that special place to call home,” Tiffany said. “When Angel and her five brothers and sisters came to campus, they melted everyone’s hearts, this little one in particular, though; I knew I had to try to adopt her.”

Globe University consistently works with shelters and rescues to not only provide our veterinary technology students with hands-on experience with real animals but to help find these animals find a home.

Tiffany is one of the many examples of how adopting a dog is not only good for the animal, but it is good for your heart and soul too.
