Read for the Record 2011

Globe University – Woodbury campus is participating in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign by going to a local day care to read Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney on Thursday, October 6, 2011.

Everyone can join the 2 million voices that are coming together to bring an end to America’s early education achievement gap by sitting down with a child in your life and reading Llama Llama Red Pajama (see link below to read an electronic version). By taking some time to sit down and read to a child you could be a part of helping the millions of children that are at risk of school failure before they start kindergarten.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign launced in 2006 on NBC’s TODAY show with the idea to have everyone read the same book on the same day, and in the process, this campaign created a national forum for concerned citizens to voice their support. Since 2006, the support of this campaign helped more than 5 million children read on the same day and raise more than $6.2 million to support Jumpstarts education programs that further help children in low-income neighborhoods.

You can make a difference as well by pledging to read Llama Llama Red Pajama on Thursday, October 6, 2011. The book is available online by clicking on the following link.
