Featured instructor: Mike Nelson, Health Fitness
Mike T. Nelson is an adjunct faculty member Globe University-Woodbury's Health Fitness programs. Mike is a PhD Candidate at the University of Minnesota. His field is kinesiology (exercise science) and his current research is on metabolic flexibility and the effects of energy drinks. He held positions at the university as a teaching assistant for Exercise Physiology and Human Physiology and as a research assistant. He received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialty in Biomechanics from Michigan Technological University and a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science with a minor in Chemistry from the College of St. Scholastica. He is currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the NSCA and founding member of the Movement, LLC. In the past he has completed Z Health R, I, S, T Phases, 9S and the Z Health Master Trainer course; RKC (Russian Kettlebell Certification) and other programs. He is a a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN, and the American Society of Nutrition. He has presented at ACSM and ISSN Conferences and the military's elite research division -the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He recently helped co-write a book chapter in the academic text book "Protein and Resistance Training" for CRC Press. He does fitness consulting in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and loves spending time with his wonderful wife, kite boarding and lifting heavy things in his garage gym. Http://www.miketnelson.com
