Accounting degree programs

We offer programs to prepare students for every level of position in the accounting field:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Accounting
  • Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Accounting)
  • Accounting Diploma

You may choose to complete the diploma or A.A.S, and then, while working as an accountant, complete a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, or business administration. The BS in Accounting is an excellent base for a Master of Business Administration (MBA degree) or law degree.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA): A graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Globe University/Minnesota School of Business can sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam in Minnesota. (Students from other states should check with their Boards of Accountancy to determine requirements for the CPA license.)

Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam: GU/MSB graduates are prepared to take this national certification exam.

Management Accounting and Finance: In addition to public accounting, graduates of our accounting degree programs succeed as management accountants and financial technicians in a variety of industries and locations. Online and on-campus: Accounting program highlights
Coursework in accounting degree and diploma programs at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business focuses on accounting, business, communications and computer applications, and can be completed through distance learning online classes or on campus at a number of locations.

Accounting Principles I and II: Master the basics and get your accounting career off to a great start. These are the classes that teach you debits, credits, and how to prepare financial statements. An integrative project helps you apply skills learned in the courses.

Accounting Systems: Online or on campus, you’ll be in front of a computer for this class as you work through several hands-on projects using QuickBooks, the leading accounting software package for small business.

Tax I and Tax II: The Internal Revenue Tax Code will finally make sense as you prepare both individual and business tax forms. Besides those 1040s, 1065s and 1120s, you’ll learn how to research tax questions as they arise on the job or as you help friends and family. You will work with the popular income tax software TurboTax.

Management Accounting Strategies: Accountants bring analytical skills to the table when decisions need to be made by the business management team. Learn the techniques accountants use to make strategic business recommendations.

Accounting Capstone: Our capstone class reviews for the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam, a national test for accountants who plan to advance in management or business administration.
