Health Care Management
As our population ages, and the healthcare delivery system becomes more complex, there will be increased career opportunities for well-qualified managers and administrators. These healthcare management professionals will be charged with developing models that effectively meet the needs of baby-boomer retirees and those without health insurance coverage. Globe University/Minnesota School of Business is committed to providing students with the skills to take on that challenge.
The profile of a health care management professional
An effective health care management administrator is, first and foremost, an entrepreneurial, future-thinking strategist with the ability to coordinate the contributions of diverse and talented medical and business professionals and community organizations.
In preparation for that leadership role, students in our Health Care Management program receive rigorous training in policy development and effective presentation strategies. Health Care Management curriculum highlights
Students investigate the different models of health care delivery currently provided in the United States, trends in healthcare costs, health care information systems, and methods of generating revenue. Through this historical approach to the study of health-care delivery, they will develop the ability to analyze current trends in market forces, regulation and medical technology; and anticipate future needs for health care reform.
Health Politics and Policy: Healthcare policy has been on the agenda for every president since FDR. Despite that historical focus, and the United States’ leading role in technology, this is the only developed nation outside of South Africa that does not provide health insurance for all citizens. This exciting course examines the history of health care and the political forces that move, and sometimes block health care initiatives. Students develop an understanding how our political systems work and where they fail. This college course captures the imagination and creates the desire for more information.
Long-Term Care: Learn about current models of continuum of care and prepare to create new models that will address the needs of our aging society in new ways, including home health care. This course emphasizes leadership skills and “future thinking,” providing students with a competitive advantage in the health care industry.
