A Nursing Degree Program for Today
There is a growing demand in health care for graduates holding Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees. If you are considering a career in nursing, it is important to consider the distinctions between the baccalaureate programs available at various schools.
When designing the nursing program at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business, we called on medical professionals, health-care providers and instructors for guidance. The resulting BSN program provides an academically rigorous foundation that emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving. Small class sizes promote close student-instructor relationships, and lessons make extensive use of realistic simulations.
Unique course offerings in holistic care and care of the critically ill
Our nursing curriculum provides a thorough examination of issues a graduate will be expected to manage effectively. Complex and critical topics underserved by many nursing schools are addressed at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business in the following courses:
Integrative Holistic Care: Explore holistic nursing, including the human caring process, therapeutic presence, global philosophies of health and healing, and the nurse healer role. An appreciation for cultural diversity and human spirituality is a thread woven throughout this course and sets the framework for your understanding of the philosophies that guide the principles and practices of complementary and alternative therapies.
Holistic End of Life Care: This course focuses on the physical and emotional needs of the patient and family at the end of life, addressing ethical issues in transcultural and spiritual contexts and the role of the hospice nurse.
Care of the Critically Ill Patient: Through classroom and laboratory exercises students learn to effectively manage the complex medical and emotional issues involved in care of the critically ill patient (a part played by a Simulator Mannequin).
NCLEX-RN examination preparation
Every course in our nursing program is designed to prepare students for success in passing the NCLEX-RN examination that leads to certification as a registered nurse. A strong foundation of liberal arts courses, essential nursing knowledge, simulation experiences and patient-care experience prepare students not only for the NCLEX-RN exam and entry-level practice as registered nurses.
