Engineering Drafting and Design Student Uses Practical Skills to Land Job Before Graduation

Evan Pogoda chose to enroll in Globe University’s engineering drafting and design program at the Woodbury campus because he says it was the perfect degree for him. He appreciated that it taught him the practical skills he would need to know in his career.

“It focused on the tools I use in the industry,” Evan explains. “It got straight to the point about learning how to do my job. The program allowed me to jump right into the field.”

In fact, Evan was able to jump into the field sooner than most. He was hired as a drafter at an engineering firm before he even graduated, thanks to an on-campus open house, where he impressed the CEO.

The associate degree program, developed in partnership with Northwest Technical Institute (NTI), features technical, scientific and creative studies. Evan says for those who strive to be drafters but may not be the best at math, the informative instructors make it easy to understand.

“You started out with just modeling really easy shapes,” he explains. “We eventually took that to the next level. It’s very hands-on.”
